BLOCK / UNBLOCK A SITE

Currently well over 1 Million sites (not just pages) have been deemed inappropriate under our  filtering standards, and we are adding more every day! Rest assured that we are doing our best to protect you and your family from unacceptable sites. However, we could use your help. New sites containing objectionable material go online everyday. In order for us to reach our goal of 100% effectiveness we will use the latest technology and tools at our disposal and we will even develop new technology that is needed to help provide that environment. But ultimately, it will still require your help to be the best!

CAUTION: This is not to say we want you to go looking for trouble. Pornography is dangerous, and viewing it (even for a moment) can set off a terrible chain of events. However should you stumble across something unacceptable, please let us know.

Here are a few other things to remember. Never leave your children unattended for long periods of time on the Internet. Excessive time spent browsing the net (even with good sites) can be addictive and wasteful. Don't allow your children to access Chat rooms and avoid the News Groups. Always know what your children are doing on the Internet and you will find it to be an exciting and productive environment!

God bless you and thank you for your help! Please keep us in your prayers! This is a spiritual battle!

Steve Ensley - AFO President

Again, please do not go looking for trouble. Pornography is dangerous, and viewing it (even for a moment) can set off a terrible chain of events.

  • Firewalls (McAfee, Norton, XP, Zone Alarm, etc.).
    • Like it or not, firewalls are here to stay. While they protect you from certain Internet threats, they can shut down your Internet access and/or e-mail if not configured properly. Here's the basics, beyond that, consult with the source of your particular product for more detailed instructions.
      • Firewalls usually ask how you want them to behave when you are installing the firewall. If the firewall is already installed, you'll have to try and figure out how it's going to work by checking the settings (usually by right-clicking the firewall icon in the lower-right corner of your screen, near the time). You want it to alert you if a program requires access to the network or Internet.
      • Once installed and configured, a firewall should ask you each time a new program wants to access the network or Internet. Timing and name recognition are important. If you just started a program and a prompt pops up from your firewall asking for access, you probably want to allow access (and check the box to remember so you don't have to go through this every time you run the program). Or, if you get a prompt from the firewall, and it's a program name that you recognize as something you use, then you probably want to grant access (and remember the setting).
      • The first time you load our filter, after that first reboot (or when you first go online), the firewall will prompt you to allow access for the filter program. Here are some names you might see the filter listed as:
        • Your Internet browser
          • Firefox
          • Internet Explorer
          • Netscape
          • Mozilla
